The unseasonably heavy snowfall from 3/8 (Fri.) to 3/10 (Sun.) pushed the official snow depth all the way up to 300 cm! As I got off the Goryu Telecabin and walked across the surface of the snow, I could hear the perfect powder squeak below my feet. It was the first perfect blue sky in a while, and the -11℃ temperature had me getting excited even before I started skiing.
[Panorama Course]
On the Panorama Course (first photo) and the Grand Prix Course (pictured), the moderately firm slopes had an incredibly-flat finish, and my edges gripped the surface of the snow like they were being sucked in, and it felt as if I had suddenly gotten better at skiing. I watched as an advanced boarder sped down the course with deep, sharp turns.
[Grand Prix Course]
I ran into two other boarders from Fukuoka Prefecture (pictured), who told me, “We love your site. We drove 13 hours to come here. Yesterday we had powder, and today we have good weather and perfect groomers, so we feel like we hit the jackpot both days!” I also spoke with a skier from Shizuoka Prefecture who told me they were a fan of Snownavi, and added, “What an amazing day!” The Dynamic Woody Courses were groomed with a tightly-packed powder snow surface that was easy to ski.
[Grand Prix Course]
As I skied down to Toomi Slope (pictured), conditions changed to a firm, groomed wet snow surface that had the feel of powder. The sun was shining bright and even the shadow of the Goryu Telecabin was cast clearly on the slopes The firm, groomed wet snow conditions on the Powder Snow and Soft Cream Course were also very good.
