It was a pleasant and comfortable morning with a slightly hazy, blue sky. The groomed Tengu A Course (pictured) had a well-packed wet snow surface. I found it slightly hard to set my edges on the first part of the run, but beyond that I didn’t have any issues, and I was able to link controlled, comfortable turns.

Ura Taro Schi Heil (pictured), Family East, and Family West were groomed with moderately-packed wet snow that was easy to ski. In other news, Sugadaira Kogen is currently running a half-price discount campaign for high school students as a special spring break offering. Limited to high school students in Nagano Prefecture, a one-day pass for the Davos and Taro area is JPY2,700 until 3/17 (Sun.), and JPY2,400 from 3/18 (Mon.) to 3/31 (Sun.). (A separate card deposit of JPY500 is required.)

Ura-Davos Wave (pictured) had a firm, groomed wet snow surface, while Heart-no-mori and Skyline also had groomed wet snow bases, but they were slightly less firm. I entered the Omote Davos East and West areas (fourth photo) around 10:00, and found that the snow was loose and moist due to the south-facing terrain and the rising temperatures. However, they were free of crowds and easy to ski.

I crossed paths with a woman from Nagano (pictured), who told me, “I love your site! The slopes this morning were in the best condition of the season.” As the weather became warmer and warmer during the day, I had to open the ventilation of my outer layers all the way and take off one of my midlayers.
