REPORT

It was a clear, cold morning with brisk temperatures caused by radiative cooling and a chilly wind from the west. I spoke with a family from Yokohama (pictured), who told me, “We’re staying two nights at Shirakaba-ko and skied at Royal Hill on the first day and at Kurumayama yesterday. Today is our last day, and we came back to ski at Royal Hill at the request of our son. The snow surface is hard-packed, but easy to ski.”
[Alpine Course]

The snow park (pictured, left), near the junction with the Raicho Course in the middle of the Alpine Course, had a flat box, a down rail, a small kicker, and a side hip. There were also mogul lanes on the skiers’ right side of the Giant Course and on the skiers’ left side at the end of the Alpine Course.
[No. 1 Quad Lift]

The Alpine Course (pictured), which descends toward the half-frozen Lake Shirakaba, had well-packed, groomed wet snow from the early to mid part of the course and well-packed, groomed granular snow on the last part. The undulating terrain and changes in the slope angle on the broadly-groomed course were fun and I found myself wanting to lap it over and over via the No. 1 Quad.
[Alpine Course]

I met a skier from nearby Chino City (pictured), who remarked, “You’re with Snownavi, aren’t you? I love your site. It’s so nice to ski on open slopes that feel like you have them all to yourself.” Taking advantage of the maximum 20° slope angle and the groomed, firm wet snow surface of the Panorama B Course, I skied with speed and made big sweeping turns.
