It was a warm morning for Sugadaira, with the temperature hovering around -1℃ at 7:00 a.m. At Pine Beak today, the Omatsuyama Champion Course, Grand Prix Course, and Pole Slope were reserved for a training session for the Junior Olympic Cup 2024 ALL Japan Alpine Junior Ski Championships, which will be held from 3/24 (Sun.) to 3/27 (Wed.).

The Omatsuyama Friend Course (first photo), Omatsuyama GO-no-hara (pictured), Omatsuyama Course, and Family Course were groomed with moderately firm “powdery” wet snow. My edges held and my skis slid well, and I enjoyed some fun runs. Snow flurries began around 7:45 a.m. and turned into heavy snow after about 30 minutes.

The Ishii Sports 2024/2025 New Model Ski Test Ride & Reservation Event is being held today and tomorrow in front of the Sugadaira Sun Hotel on the Ura Taro Slope. I spoke with a staff member of ICELANTIC (pictured), a ski brand from Colorado, U.S.A., who told me, “We recommend this NOMAD model among next season’s offerings!” The NOMAD is ICELANTIC’s standard freeride model that can push through deep powder as well as rough snow.

I ran into a group of three people from Tokyo (pictured) who said, “We are all about to test out our fifth pair of skis. We love the Ishii Sports test ride event because we can try out a variety of skis from several different brands!” The same test ride event will be held at Sapporo Teine on 4/6 (Sat.) and 4/7 (Sun.), and at Kiroro on 4/13 (Sat.) and 4/14 (Sun.). In addition, the “Ishii Sports Custom Fair” will be held at 6 venues nationwide, starting in Sendai from 5/31 (Fri.) to 6/2 (Sun.).
