The Skyline Course, along with the Skyline 2 Pair, closed for the season yesterday, 4/21 (Sun.), at 12:00 p.m. However, in its place, the Kurobishi 3 Pair began operation on 4/22 (Mon.). This morning, the weather was cloudy with fog rolling in and out, casting shade over the slopes.

Rain in the forecast slowed visitor turnout, and all the slopes were relatively empty. The Kurobishi Slope (pictured) was groomed with a loose, granular snow surface that my skis slid well across. The slope on the west side of the Kurobishi Quad was groomed to only about half the usual width, but it didn’t feel as narrow as I might have expected.

The Panorama Course (pictured) also had a groomed, soft granular snow surface. There was plenty of width from the top through the middle of the course, and at the end of the course there was enough snow to cover the width of about one grooming machine over near the Panorama Pair. The Panorama Forest Road Course also had groomed granular snow that was just as easy to ski as the Panorama Course.

The ungroomed Riesen Grat Course (pictured) was shrouded in thick fog, and had a surface that was mostly flat from the top to mid part of the run, and marked with shallow tracks and undulations on the steeper slope toward the end. The Usagidaira Slope was also ungroomed today, and as of 9:30 a.m., the southern route had deep tracks and bumps at the start, turning more shallow towards the middle of the course.
