Although Hakuba Happo-one Ski Area was planning to be open today on 12/1 (Thu), the opening was delayed due to the snow shortage. However, there was snowfall from last night to this morning thanks to the strong cold wave. There was 1cm of fresh snow in Sakka and 2cm in the beginning part of Skyline Course (Photo).

It seemed to be blowing a south wind last night, so Riesen Grat Course (Photo) had less snow than the beginning part of Skyline Course. The wind got weaker at around 9:00 a.m, but the clouds in the sky were moving fast and blocking off the soft sunlight sometimes.

When I checked the frost on the trees, I saw they grew up toward the south. I could see the blue sky through the breaks of clouds at around 9:30 a.m. There was not much snowfall in Usagidaira because of the wind and it was just around 1 – 2cm.

Kurobishi (Photo) had 2cm fresh snow where the south wind merely blows. The frozen ground under the thin snow looked to lose its heat almost entirely. By the way, it is forecast to be snowy from this night to tomorrow morning.
