Today marked the first time that snow reached all the way to the base of the mountain, and even the roof of JR Hakuba Station and the Hakuba Ski Jumping Stadium (pictured) were covered in a thin layer of white. It was also the first time this season that the bottom portion of the resort has received snow on consecutive days. As of 6:30 this morning, lightly falling snow was being carried by a weak westerly wind in the area around the Hakuba Ski Jumping Stadium.

As I made my way up the currently-closed Kurobishi forest road (*authorized personnel only), the amount of snow on the ground began to increase noticeably around the boarding area for the Skyline 2 Pair, with about 5 cm at the midpoint of the Skyline Course (pictured), and around 10 cm in front of Cafeteria Kurobishi. On this almost windless day, the thermometer in front of Cafeteria Kurobishi read a brisk -4℃.

I continued hiking up to Kurobishidaira (pictured), enjoying the soft powdery snow underfoot. I was excited to find roughly 15 cm of accumulation, so I decided to go all the way up to the top of the ski resort, where I measured the snow depth of approximately 20cm. The snow had died down around dawn, but began to intensify again around 8:30.

The wet snow that had settled on the Central Course, the upper part of Olympic Course I (pictured), and on the Panorama Course was between 2 to 3cm deep. I even noticed resort staff working to prepare the Panorama Course as well as testing out the Panorama Lift.
