Getting ready for the winter involves a number of important steps such as deciding which ski resort you want to go to, buying your lift tickets, booking your hotel, and getting your gear and clothing together. Incidentally, you can buy your lift tickets at the resort ticket window on the day of your trip, but of course it’s nice to get a great deal. So, in this article, we’ll introduce “How to Get a Great Deal on Lift Tickets for the Ski Resorts in Hakuba Village.” (*Photo taken on 2/2/2024)

There are four main places where you can purchase discounted lift tickets: convenience stores, sporting good stores, ski/snowboard equipment sales events, and online sales sites. While it is possible to pick up discounted tickets at a convenience store on the way to the ski resort on the day of your trip, but the number of options available is decreasing year by year, and you will need to exchange the voucher for a physical ticket at the ski resort ticket window. (*Note: If you buy an electronic ticket from an online sales site, you will also need to exchange the voucher for a physical ticket.).

On the other hand, if you buy an IC card (pictured, left) from an online sales site (i.e. the official website of the ski resort or a website selling early-bird lift tickets), you can get a great deal and, when you arrive at the ski resort, you can go straight to the lifts or gondolas without having to queue at the ticket window. Related to this, the Hakuba Card (pictured, right, 500 yen per card), which has been sold by Hakuba Village since last year, also allows you to purchase discounted lift tickets for the ski resorts in Hakuba Village and go straight to the lift!
You should also consider the “Furusato Nozei” tax payment system. In fact, you can get a one-day lift ticket for just JPY2,000, so it’s by far the best deal in terms of the discount rate. And, since it’s IC card, you can go straight to the lift or gondola without having to wait in line at the ticket window. In other news, after the first snowfall in Hakuba Village on 11/19 (Tue.), there was a little more snow 11/23 (Sat.).
