The strong northwest winds from yesterday had settled, and this morning we were greeted with calm, sunny weather. I spoke with a couple from Hakuba Village (pictured) who shared, “We always follow your reports! We’re Happo season pass holders, and my husband often comes here during his work breaks to ski.” The groomed conditions along the Kurobishi Quad were fantastic, with moderately firm powder that made for an incredibly enjoyable ride.

I also ran into two people visiting for the day from Hyogo Prefecture and was told, “We love Snownavi! Today is our first time skiing together as siblings. After checking the resort report and weather forecast, we just had to come!” The groomed south-facing route of Usagidaira (pictured) offered a smooth, grippy surface perfect for carving.

It was a windless morning with strong sunlight, and the lack of breeze combined with overnight radiative cooling resulted in the lower elevations being perhaps more chilly, while the slopes were comfortable right from the start of the day. The beautiful weather and excellent snow conditions made for an ideal day to ski day, and despite it being a weekday, there were plenty of skiers out and about, with many waving and calling out to me.

In other news, along with the Usagidaira, Kurobishi (pictured), and Panorama Slopes, the Riesen Slalom Course will open today at 12:00! This addition means you can now ski down all the way down to the base station via the gondola. However, you still can’t access the Nakiyama area. Additionally, the BLASTRACK 24-25 NEW MODEL TEST RIDE event will be held at the Usagidaira Terrace on 12/21 (Sat.) and 12/22 (Sun.). Pre-registration is required.
