The cold temperatures are hanging around, with temperatures this morning dipping below -5°C. The day began with light, dry snowflakes falling under overcast skies that gradually cleared, giving way to soft sunlight. I spoke with a ski patrol member, who shared, “Yesterday’s conditions were great, but today’s grooming is absolutely top-notch.”
[Usagidaira Slope]

The groomed slopes along the Kurobishi Quad (pictured) had approximately 1 cm of light new snow covering a moderately firm, powder base. The wide, flat surface was perfect for effortless carving. Meanwhile, the nice soft powder surfaces marked with gentle undulations and moguls along the Kurobishi No. 3 Pair and Alpen Quad also offered superb, highly skiable conditions.
[Kurobishi Slope]

The Panorama Course (pictured) has been open since 11/30 (Sat.), and felt completely dialed in today. Like the slopes along the Kurobishi Quad, it featured a wide, flat surface with a well-compacted powder base—ideal for continuous, flowing turns that make you wanna keep going! The groomed routes at Usagidaira also offered the same well-packed powder conditions, ensuring an excellent ride.
[Panorama Course]

The groomed upper to mid section of the Riesen Course (pictured) had a firm powder snow surface, while the lower Usuba Slope leading to the gondola base station remained ungroomed. By the way, starting tomorrow, 12/14 (Sat.), the Kokusai No. 1 Pair Lift will begin operation, allowing skiers to enjoy a full run from the Olympic Course II to the lower Kokusai Slope and down to the gondola base station!
