I had a quick chat with a staff member this morning, who shared, “We’ve had a great turnout today. With about 15cm of fresh snow from yesterday, the snow conditions are excellent.” With dry powder snow falling lightly, Shiga Kogen’s Yakebitaiyama Ski Resort officially opened today, 12/7 (Sat.)! The E1 South Course (970m long, Max. Slope Angle 17°, Avg. 9°), accessed by the No. 4 Romance Lift, is now open to skiers and snowboarders!

At one point I noticed a group of five skiers, from Osaka, Shiga, Gifu, Aichi, and Nagano (pictured), waving and calling out to me, “We love Snownavi!” The man on the far left in the photo added with a smile, “Last season, I brought candy on opening day, and you took my photo, haha. Seeing this snowy landscape is so exciting!”

The South Course (pictured) featured a firm base of man-made wet snow topped with about 5cm of dry, fresh snow, and there were no bushes or thin patches to worry about on the course. Venturing into the 20cm of fresh snow along the course edges delivered that signature, fluffy Shiga Kogen powder feel that was simply delightful!

I spoke with a father from Kanagawa (pictured, far right), who mentioned, “I always read your reports. Today is our first day of the season.” His elder daughter (second from the left) added with a big smile, “Skiing is so much fun!” I also received countless kind words from others, saying that they’re fans of Snownavi and look forward to our condition updates. Thanks everyone!
