Happo-one REPORT

2024.12.0360cm / Sunny

Currently, there are two restaurants are open at the resort: Sun Terrace Panorama (9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; food served from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.) and Yeti (8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; food served from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.). At Sun Terrace Panorama, the menu features a variety of donburi (rice bowls), including sauce katsudon (fried pork cutlet with a sweet & savory sauce, pictured, ¥1,500) and tori ten-don (tempura style fried chicken, ¥1,400), each made with local rice from Otani Farm. The restaurant operates on the first floor, while a new shop will be opening on the second floor by the end of the month.

The Adam Plaza shop, located at the gondola base station, is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It’s a convenient spot to pick up essentials like goggles, hats, sunglasses, and other gear you may have forgotten or are in need of. The shop also offers snow toys for kids and a variety of souvenir snacks. The staff recommends the two varieties of Happo original hoodies (¥6,600 and ¥7,900).

Yesterday marked the season’s first clear, sunny day. During my report I spoke with a snowboarder (pictured, left), who shared, “I always check your reports! I’ve been camping in my car since the end of November, and thoroughly enjoying myself. Yesterday, I boarded at Goryu 47 with my Hakuba Valley Pass. My friend is here for the day to do her first run of the season. We’re hoping the groomers soften up soon!” The Panorama Course had a firm, groomed wet snow surface that offered great conditions for speed. (Photo taken on 12/2/2024)

Both yesterday and today, the entire Panorama Course north of the Kokusai 3 Pair (pictured) was groomed, with another groomed section around 3 to 4 snowcat-widths on the south side. The north side had small bumps and shallow undulations, while the relatively flat south side felt easier to ski. The hardpacked Panorama Forest Road was groomed only at the beginning, meaning that the ungroomed middle section and beyond made for a bumpy ride. (Photo taken on 12/2/2024)
