The vast slopes of the Tsugaike Mountain Resort have been blessed with abundant powder snow, and have finally reached “fully open” status (over 80% of terrain accessible)! I spoke with a snowboarder from Omachi City, who was the first to hit the Maruyama Slope (pictured), and was told, “I’m a season pass holder for Tsugaike and always check your reports! I’m a bit scared of the gondola, so I love that Tsugaike allows me to easily reach the top by chair lifts—it’s perfect for me.”

By the way, Tsugaike not only allows you to reach the top through a series of lifts, but you can also get to the gondola summit station via high-speed chairs, making it faster than you might expect. The groomed Maruyama Slope (pictured), with its beautiful corduroy pattern, offered pleasantly soft powder conditions! It was the kind of conditions that made me feel like I suddenly became a much better skier.

I had not felt the wind at the base, but at the gondola summit station, it was blowing strongly, carrying dry snow and giving a sense of the arrival of the impending cold front. A skier from Aichi Prefecture (pictured) commented, “I love Snownavi! I’m a season pass holder for the HAKUBA VALLEY.” The Han-no-ki slope (pictured) featured well-packed groomed powder in the early to middle sections, while the latter part offered softer, lightly packed, groomed powder conditions.

The snow quality on the Kan-no-naru-oka slope was also nice and soft, making for an enjoyable and easy ride. A father from Shiga Prefecture (pictured) shared, “I follow your updates regularly. I’d like to enroll my kids in a ski school—are lessons available yet?” Incidentally, the Tsugaike Ski School, located at the base of the Kan-no-naru-Oka Slope, officially began its lessons today!
