Takamine REPORT

2024.12.1850cm / Sunny

The Takamine Mountain Park’s Diving Course (pictured) opened on 11/26 (Tue.), and the start of operation of the No. 1 Pair on 12/7 (Sat.) brought about the opening of the Beginners Course (400m, max gradient 8°, average 7°). In addition, the No. 3 Pair went online on 12/13 (Fri.), providing access to the Panorama Course (1,000m, max gradient 24°, average 14°). This morning, temperatures dropped to a brisk -7°C, and light, dry snowflakes were drifting through the crisp air.

The Diving Course, which is Takamine’s most popular, had a firm, groomed powder snow surface, and it was impressive to watch the advanced skiers carving sharp turns down the slope. The Beginners Course (pictured) featured moderately soft, groomed powder snow topped with a light dusting of dry, fresh snow, that offered easy and smooth conditions perfect for beginners.

The groomed Panorama Course, like the Diving Course, had a firm powder snow surface. Takamine also offers three certified ski & snowboard schools: the SAJ-certified Takamine Kogen Ski School, the Takamine Kogen AZ Pro Snowboarding School (pictured), and the SIA-certified Yuasa Snow Academy. These schools offer a variety of lessons tailored to individuals of different skill levels and with varying goals.

The base depth is still at 50cm, but there were no bare spots or sections of thin snow coverage on the skiable runs. The snow quality and the atmosphere enveloped in frost were fantastic, boosting my mood. However, as I skied at my usual pace to gather material for my report, I quickly became winded, a clear reminder of the resort’s high elevation.
