The opening of the Jigatake Ski Resort came earlier than expected this season, with the resort opening three days ahead of schedule at 8:30 a.m. on 12/10 (Tue.), making it the fourth resort to open in the Hakuba Valley this season. Additionally, the 1st Pair Lift (541m) started running at 8:30 a.m., followed by the 3rd Pair Lift (669m) at 1:30 p.m. This made the Echo Slope (pictured), Raicho Course, and the upper part of the Rabbit Course available for skiing!

The Echo Slope, which was open in the morning, was groomed widely throughout. On the side of the slope, a park digger told me, “We’re preparing for tomorrow’s park opening. We’re going to connect this (pictured) to create an 8-meter PVC pipe rail, and we’ll also install a 5-meter box and a 5-meter rail. Please come and check it out!”

A new snow escalator (pictured) has been installed on the lower part of the Kamoshika Course, making it easier for small children, beginner skiers, and snowboarders to access the 4th Pair Lift station from the Center House. Additionally, the Kids Park at the base of the Kamoshika Course has been renovated, and new play equipment has been added.

I had a conversation with a local father from Omachi (pictured), who told me, “I always read your reports! Since the season opening was earlier than planned, I rushed to prepare and came to ski. I’m mainly a snowboarder, and it’s been 20 years since I last skied, so I have to make sure I don’t get left behind by my kids.” On the groomed Echo Slope, which had a nice firm, powdery feel to the snow, he was seemingly able to make the turns he wanted.
