Ahead of the release of the Snownavi Winter 2025 Edition starting on 11/1 (Fri.), let us introduce the newly updated gondola at Akakura Kanko Ski Resort, the Myoko Kogen Sky Cable (pictured). The gondola, which was out of operation from 4/1 (Mon.) to 10/11 (Fri.), has been completely renewed, with everything from the cabins to the mechanical equipment and wires replaced. It was developed in collaboration with an Austrian manufacturer.

The standout feature of the gondola is the height of the cabins. As shown in the picture, the 170cm man standing next to the gondola illustrates that most people will be able to get on and off smoothly without having to bend down. Additionally, both the mountain base and summit stations have carpeting in the boarding areas, making it easier to walk.

The cabin, which can seat six people—three on each side—was relatively quiet, with cushioned seats that were comfortable, and a spacious foot area that made for a pleasant ride. The autumn leaves along the gondola route were also at their peak. During the 11-minute ride, I was able to fully enjoy the surrounding scenery through the large windows.

The operation, which was originally scheduled to start on 10/12 (Sat.) and end with the conclusion of the autumn season on 11/4 (Mon., holiday), has been extended by one week and will now run until 11/10 (Sun.) from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.). Pets are welcome to ride for free. You can enjoy a round-trip ride, or take a one-way ride and descend on foot via the walking path that was created on the Hotel B Course → Hotel Main Slope → Hotel Beginner Course (roughly 60 minutes).
