This season, some things are different at Hakuba Norikura Onsen Ski Resort. To start with, Japan’s first “flying restaurant”, known as Breakfast in the Sky, was held using the No. 11 Lift (about 1,200m) during the summer season. In addition, on 8/10 (Sat.), the Hakuba Norikura Aqua Oasis (pictured, swimwear required) opened. In terms of winter, the ski resort is set to open tomorrow at 8:30 a.m., 12/14 (Sat.), a full 8 days earlier than last year.

From the Hakuba Norikura Aqua Oasis’ outdoor jacuzzi (pictured, foreground), you can enjoy a fantastic view of the slopes, as shown. The popular No. 3 High-Speed Pair Lift, visible in the back left, is set to start operating 30 minutes earlier than last season, beginning at 8 a.m. Once again, the ski resort’s operating period has also been extended by 12 days compared to last season, with the final day set for 4/6 (Sun.).

The Earthbag Sauna within the Hakuba Norikura Aqua Oasis looks like this. It’s spacious enough for 3 to 4 people, with a dry, warm heat. After thoroughly warming up, you can use the lukewarm outdoor pool as a substitute for an ice bath. Furthermore, a new conveyor belt-style device has been installed in the kids’ area.
