The heavy snowfall that started on 12/6 (Fri.) has subsided, giving way to a sunny morning with a strong northwesterly wind. The snow-covered landscape (pictured), thanks to the abundant accumulation, really stood out, and was reminiscent of peak season. The snow came down heavily, especially from the morning of 12/7 (Sat.) through the evening of 12/8 (Sun.), resulting in an impressive 100 cm increase in base depth over just three days.

Riding the Alps 3rd Pair lift, I couldn’t help but get excited seeing the untouched snow on the Technical Course (pictured). Drawn in by the sight of it, I dropped in and was greeted by 20 to 30 cm of fluffy new snow. While the wind had compacted it slightly, reducing the sinking feeling, the soft powder base underneath allowed me to fully enjoy the sensation of floating on the snow!

Digging my edges hard into the snow sent up plumes of powder behind me, showcasing the excellent snow quality. Enthusiastic shouts like “Amazing, this is the best!” and “Feels so good!” echoed across the slopes from those dropping in. The groomed Grand Prix Course (pictured) featured a well-compacted powder surface, while the Panorama Course offered a slightly softer, powdery groomed base.

At 9:10 a.m., Line-E started operating, opening the upper section of Route 8 (pictured), and visitors eagerly flocked to the area. The top of Route 8, like the Panorama Course, featured moderately soft, groomed powder terrain that was exceptionally good. Later, I spoke with a patrol member who mentioned, “We’re preparing to open the course to the bottom starting at noon today.”
