The stars of the show for this season’s Kurohime Kogen Snow Park reports will undoubtedly be the dogs! In addition to the No. 7 Pair lift, as of this season, the No. 8 Pair lift also allows dogs to ride, creating one of Japan’s largest SNOW DOG AREAS, with two lifts, four courses, and vast fields of snow. The 1km-long “Dog” course (a bit confusing, but that’s the name) offered a delightful ride with powdery, slightly damp groomed snow that felt smooth and fast, and was perfect for both dogs and skiers alike.

In the vast snowfields (pictured), the dogs’ excitement grew with every run, as they enjoyed repeated face shots of snow. In future reports, I will provide a detailed introduction to the SNOW DOG AREA, the indoor dog run at the Maeyama Plaza, and also include some extra information such as ski school programs, rentals, slope-side dining, and the KUROHIME FAMILY PARK. Additionally, I will cover the Kurohime Dog Festival event, which will likely be Japan’s top event for dogs, taking place on 3/3 (Mon.).

The owner of Coco and Lala, who appear in the first and second pictures, mentioned, “We came to play 4 to 5 times last year.” Additionally, the owner of Raon (pictured) shared, “We’ve been coming every year since Kurohime became dog-friendly. Today, it’s surprisingly quiet.”

I will provide a detailed report on the newly opened Doggo Village at the bottom of Tiger later on! This small village, where friends who live by the motto “NO DOG, NO LIFE” gather, features one cabin (for up to 11 people) and three trailer-type accommodations (pictured, for up to 5 people). By the way, Kurohime officially opened today with the resort being “fully open” from day 1.
