Early this morning, I spoke with a local skier from Hakuba Village (pictured), who told me, “I always check your updates! I’ve been lining up since 6:35 a.m. to catch the sunrise operation.” On the Toomi Slop (pictured), sunrise skiing is available every day from12/28 to 1/5, and on weekends and holidays from January to March, starting at 7:00 a.m. Anyone with a morning ticket, full-day pass, or season pass can enjoy take advantage of the early start!

Thanks to the Christmas and year-end cold waves, we’ve been blessed with abundant snowfall and low temperatures, and this morning at Hakuba Goryu & Hakuba47, all the slopes had perfect powder conditions! The groomed Toomi Slope (first photo) had a moderately packed base, and on the Soft Cream and Powder Snow courses, I was able to repeatedly carve smooth turns with ease.

The Merry Land Course (pictured), with a length of 550m, a maximum slope angle of 12°, and an average of 9°, was groomed widely with a moderately firm surface, and despite the gentle slope, my skis glided smoothly down. Within less than an hour of opening, the course became lively with beginners and groups practicing their basics. Additionally, the Hakuba Goryu Telecabin started running around 9 a.m.

Tomorrow, New Year’s Eve, the Hakuba Goryu Countdown Event will take place on the Toomi Slope, and night skiing will be extended until 10:30 p.m.! On 1/1 (Wed., holiday), the New Year’s Fukufuku Festival (free, starting at 8 a.m.) will be held at the 47 base area, and on 2/2 (Thu.), a New Year’s Celebration Event (free, starting at 9 a.m.) will take place on the Iimori Slope.
