After yesterday’s clear skies, the “miraculous 9-day holiday” came to an end, and today welcomed a quiet morning typical of January weekdays. Light winds were blowing from the south, and snow began to fall. I started my morning with the moderately firm, groomed powder conditions on the Riesen Slalom Course (pictured). My edges held well, and my skis glided smoothly, allowing me to build good speed.

The snowfall intensified afterward, and by around 8:45 a.m., there was about 1cm of light new snow in the area along the Kurobishi Quad. There I spoke with a man from Azumino City (pictured, left), who shared, “I always read your reports! Last season, you took pictures of me skiing. The conditions are perfect along the Kurobishi Quad for teaching my girlfriend (pictured, right) who just started snowboarding.”

The Kurobishi Quad area (pictured) with its moderately soft, groomed powder base, as well as the southern route of Usagidaira and the central route of Skyline, all offered a very comfortable ride on groomed powder. The irregular moguls along the Alpen Quad, Kurobishi 3 Pair, and the ungroomed sections of Skyline were also soft and manageable, thanks to the leftover powder snow, making it easier to navigate.

Work on creating HAPPO PARKS is already underway along the Kitaone 3 Pair. Today, three snow groomers were in operation, gathering snow from the glamping area to form the foundation for the park’s features. Access to the course will be restricted until 1/10 (Fri.), and the park is set to open on 1/11 (Sat.) at 10 a.m.!
