REPORT

This morning, before the resort opened, I met a snowboarder from Tokyo at the Gondola Middle Station (pictured), who told me, “I always check Snownavi! I’ll be staying at my family home in Matsumoto for about a week and will be skiing with my Hakuba Valley pass. The weather information mentioned in the Happo report the other day was really interesting!” Around this time, the weather at the base of the resort was cloudy, with signs that precipitation might start falling soon.

When I reached the top of the ski resort, wet snow was falling along with a westerly wind. The groomed sections of Tsuga-no-mori (pictured) and the groomed Gotemba Course both had moderately form, easy-to-slide-on powder bases. The new snowfall was consistent at 1 to 2 cm across both the groomed and ungroomed sections, indicating that the snow had just begun falling in the morning.

A father from Chikuma City (pictured center) commented “I love Snownavi! Since my kids are still on winter vacation, we all came out to have some fun together. After skiing, we’ll go to the hot spring before heading home.” The OAKLEY×TGPARKS area, including the Sawa Course and One Course, will be closed for a rebuild from today until 1/10 (Fri), before reopening on 1/11 (Thu)!
[Han-no-ki]

The Han-no-ki and Maruyama slopes were both in excellent condition with moderately packed powder snow, and a light 1-2cm dusting on top! I spoke with three guests from Tokyo and Shizuoka (pictured) who mentioned, “We always read your reports! We bought season passes and come to ski almost every week. The snow this season is really great!” Soon after, snow started falling at the base, and began to accumulate on the roads as well.
