This season, the second floor of Sky City at Kurumayama Kogen has welcomed the newly opened Kurumayama Kogen Nightclub K1925. Additionally, the Slalom Course (pictured, background) will host the Kurumayama Kogen Night Races on 1/11 (Sat.), 1/25 (Sat.), 2/8 (Sat.), 2/22 (Sat.), and 3/8 (Sat.). Meanwhile, the Tre Bien Course in the foreground is set to open for skiing starting tomorrow, 1/9 (Thu.).

The groomed Panorama Course featured a firm mix of artificial and natural snow, which offered well-packed and easy-to-ski powder snow conditions. Today, I enjoyed a 2-kilometer long run from the top of the ski area. The Family Course (pictured), with its wide, well-groomed surface of moderately packed powder snow, provided the perfect setting for big, flowing turns on this quiet weekday in January.

After warming up on the groomed slopes, I headed to the ungroomed Venus Course (pictured). Despite the lack of significant fresh snow, the continued cold temperatures kept the base on Venus soft and forgiving. Though the official base depth is only 70cm, both the groomed and ungroomed slopes offered an enjoyable and smooth skiing experience.

Adventure Land, one of the largest kids areas of its kind in Japan, features two snow escalators and is free to enter with a lift ticket. There’s an abundance of sleds and striders available for use, with only a portion of them pictured here. Next time, I plan to try the thrilling Boomerang Tubing, which looks fun even for adults!
