We’ve now had three mornings in a row of pristine, untouched snow! The steep, ungroomed slope along the Kurobishi 3 Pair, which had been carved with deep tracks during the day yesterday, once again presented a tempting blanket of pure white (pictured). Though I suspected the photos might look similar to yesterday’s report, I couldn’t resist dropping in—and was greeted with a delightful 40 to 50 cm of light, fresh snow!

Amid persistent heavy snowfall, the key difference from yesterday was the wind. Strong gusts of north wind intermittently created whiteout conditions across the upper areas of the ski resort. The Alpen Quad began operating 15 minutes ahead of schedule, but shortly afterward, it and other upper lifts were suspended. Visitors who were lucky enough to access the upper slopes enjoyed carving tracks through premium powder at Usagidaira, Kurobishi, and Skyline (pictured), with 10 to 30 cm of fresh snow blanketing the runs.

With the upper lifts suspended, I couldn’t return for another round of deep powder and instead headed down to the village. Across the road from the Gondola Base Station is the Happo Lounge (pictured), a café-focused establishment operated by SPICY, the largest rental shop in the HAKUBA VALLEY. In addition to offering ski and snowboard rentals, waxing services, and gear storage, the lounge provides a comfortable space to relax and take a break.
