This morning, I spoke with three guests (two pictured) from Shinano Town, who shared, “The weather is perfect! The newly opened course offers just the right length for skiing. Now, we’re off for first tracks.” Thanks to the heavy snowfall from the strongest cold wave of the season, the slope conditions are excellent. Standing at the exit of the No. 8 Lift, you can truly appreciate the vastness of the Kurohime Kogen area.

The first day of the three-day weekend greeted us with calm, clear skies, and the area around the No. 1 Quad lift was busy right from the morning. The Dog Course (pictured) along the No. 7 Lift grew quite lively shortly after, especially with families bringing their dogs. The moderately firm groomed powder snow surface offered smooth, easy skiing even on the gentle slopes, with my skis gliding effortlessly.

At the KUROHIME FAMILY PARK, there seemed to be a high percentage of families with young children. I had a chat with a father from the local area, who commented, “The snow is soft and easy to ski on. Since my child is getting the hang of it, we’re off to take the No. 1 Quad to try and improve our skills.” I noticed that both children and adults were enjoying sledding in many spots around the park.

I ran into a married couple from Tochigi (pictured), who shared, “We visited Kurohime for the first time last season, and it was so great that we bought a season pass this year. It’s so much fun!” By the way, did you notice the untouched, non-groomed areas to the sides of the groomed courses? Unable to resist, I dove into the 50cm of fresh powder and experienced enjoyed the thrilling sensation of floating. This might just be a hidden gem for powder enthusiasts…
