Today, on the middle day of the three-day weekend, Sanosaka kicked off its second sunrise skiing morning of the season, with the lifts getting going at 6:30 a.m. I spoke with a woman from Kanagawa Prefecture (pictured), who told me, “I always read your reports. It was worth waking up early today!” She took the 2nd and 3rd Quads, then enjoyed a warm cup of coffee at the top of Lake Down. (Note: The coffee mentioned here is a complimentary service offered by the ski resort.)

During the sunrise operation, the four slopes open for skiing are Lake Down, Lake View, Paradise, and Paradise Downhill. Today I noticed a few people skiing laps via the 2nd Quad, but most headed straight to Lake Down, where the coffee was being served. From Lake Down they proceeded onto Lake View, all while enjoying the view of Lake Aoki below.

All four courses were groomed with just the right amount of firmness, and excellent powder snow, and a man living in Hakuba Village mentioned, “You can tell the quality of the snow just by the sound when you walk on it.” By the way, the Go!Go!Rabbits Cup 2025 will be held next weekend, on 1/18 (Sat.) and 1/19 (Sun.).

I crossed paths with a man from Toyama Prefecture (pictured), who said, “I always follow Snownavi’s updates! Unfortunately, we couldn’t see the sunrise due to the weather, but the conditions are excellent!” A man from Chikuma City added, “Checking you resort reports gets me excited and motivated. This is my first visit to Sanosaka, and I came because I heard they would be hosting sunrise skiing.” Not long after, the advanced skiers began heading over to catch first tracks on the Carving slope, which opened at 8 a.m.
