GORYU WAVES, designed around the concept of “Ride with Rhythm,” celebrated its grand opening under calm, sunny skies today! “Even beginners can enjoy the area. Feel free to jump in, and remember, it’s even more fun when you flow with the rhythm,” were the words of the MC. Cheers erupted during the dazzling demonstration by guest riders, which kicked off at 9 a.m. (second photo).

While riding the Toomi 1st Pair Lift, I overheard conversations like, “That line looks fun if you connect it like that.” Both the Toomi Slope and GORYU WAVES area featured well-packed powder snow with a touch of artificial snow mixed in. GORYU WAVES can also be enjoyed during sunrise and night skiing sessions, offering excitement at any time of the day.

Let me rewind a bit. Early in the morning, with clouds overhead, the well-packed groomed snow on the Grand Prix Slope (pictured) and the moderately firm base of the Panorama Slope offered perfect powder conditions. The Dynamic Slope, similar to Grand Prix, also had a firmly groomed powder base maintained all the way to the edges, making it smooth and easy to ride.

Let’s look back further at the early morning in Hakuba Village. As dry snowflakes gently fluttered down at 6:59 a.m., just before sunrise, the peak of Mt. Goryu (pictured) began to glow a beautiful shade of red. With the forecast for clear skies over the weekend, many photographers were spotted on the Hakuba Ohashi Bridge, where the breathtaking view of the Hakuba peaks could be admired up close.
