The mountains are covered in white. This season, the snowfall for the HAKUBA VALLEY has far exceeded the average, and the same is true for the ridgelines near the Northern Alps. Even the Mt. Karamatsu and Kaerazu-no-ken, which were partly bathed in sunlight, stood out for their striking whiteness. Following the perfect skiing weather on 1/18 (Sat.) and 1/19 (Sun.), today, 1/20 (Mon.), was also blessed with calm, clear skies. (※In other news, tt was announced on this day that the Kaerazu-sawa and Shakushi-sawa were confirmed as glaciers.)

The Han-no-ki Slope maintained its powder snow conditions. Whether on the moderately packed snow surface along the Han-no-ki High-Speed Pair or on the firm base of the Han-no-ki mid to lower sections, I was able to glide freely across the wide, groomed runs. On a quiet weekday morning in January, taking the gondola from the middle station to the summit station is definitely the best choice!

Around 9 a.m., as the sun became stronger, the temperature quickly rose, and I started to feel the warmth. The Maruyama Slope, which had been perfectly groomed, was covered in well-packed powder snow. The edge grip and glide of my skis were both exceptional, making it incredibly enjoyable. Before I knew it, I had taken the Maruyama No. 1 Quad Lift three times!

“The snowfall has been heavy this season, so we’ve been able to perfectly set up all the elements. Please come and have fun!” was the comment from one of the TG PARKS diggers I ran into. The park’s 12m kicker, which opened on 1/11 (Sat.) had riders popping off big air one after another, and as people rode the Han-no-ki High-Speed No. 3 Quad, cheers of “Wow!!” could be heard.
