The appeal of the Kurohime Kogen Snow Park extends far beyond the Snow Dog Area. The resort itself is captivating, with its smooth-flowing slopes, breathtaking views of Lake Nojiri and Mt. Myoko, and the picturesque larch forests that frame the area. On 1/19 (Sun.), the RIDING ON SNOW Kurohime event saw the No. 1 Quad Lift start operating at 7:30 a.m. An alpine racer participating in the competition commented, “The course is beautifully maintained and very easy to ski on.”

By around 8:30 a.m., the slopes started to buzz with activity, especially with families and groups. The Monkey Course (pictured) features waves, kickers, and two spines on its mid to lower sections. I also spoke with the head of the Kurohime Snowboarding School, who shared, “We take particular pride in our advanced lesson offerings, such as tech tests and instructor certification courses. We’d love for you to join us!”

The lower area of the ski resort was alive with families with small children, and many were seen warming up at the practice area in front of the Cosmo Plaza, which features a moving walkway (pictured), before heading over to the KUROHIME FAMILY PARK. Additionally, all groomed courses today offered excellent, well-packed powder snow conditions, making them very easy to ski on. (In the background of the photo, you can see the majestic Mt. Myoko.)

At the Snow Dog Area, I met a family from Wakayama Prefecture (pictured), who shared, “We closely follow Snownavi! We love the snow quality here and the fact that our dog can play freely. That’s why, even though it’s far, we make the trip from Wakayama.” Their dog dashed at full speed through the fresh snow, enthusiastically chasing after a ball that was thrown.
