The firepit and outdoor chairs set up in front of the Yuki-no-hiroba are perfect for a quick break. Two visitors from Australia (pictured), who were relaxing there, shared, “The Hakuba area is great! We’re having so much fun!” At the adjacent reception for Hakuba Tsugaike SNOW WOW!, you can find craft beer from the Northern Alps Brewery, marshmallows to toast over the fire, and Meiho sausages amongst the items for sale.

Thanks to last night’s snowfall, the upper, ungroomed areas of the resort received 10 to 15 cm of fresh snow. The slopes along the Han-no-ki High-Speed Pair (pictured), offered a comfortable mix of wet snow and powder, with a soft and pleasant feel. As I skied further down the Han-no-ki Slope, the powdery sensation gradually diminished, but the well-packed and enjoyable slope conditions remained consistent throughout.

I spoke with a skier from Tokyo (pictured) who commented, “I always check your updates! After skiing one run on the Tsuga-no-mori Slope, I’ll take the Tsuga No. 2 Pair lift back up and hike to Tenguhara!” While there was hardly any wind noticeable at the slope level, the clouds above moved swiftly, causing the blue sky to appear and disappear intermittently.

The ungroomed sections of Tsuga-no-mori and Gotemba were challenging due to the hard, uneven surfaces underneath, while the groomed areas (pictured) offered a delightful ride with a strong powdery feel. The Shirakaba Slope shared similar conditions to the mid-to-lower sections of Han-no-ki. Meanwhile, the Karamatsu and Oya-no-hara Slopes benefited from the sunshine and warmer temperatures, creating slightly softened, easy-to-ski surfaces.
