This morning, I spoke with two visitors from Matsumoto City (pictured), who shared, “We always check your site! We’re Tsugaike season pass holders and board here once or twice a week on weekdays. The groomed slopes are easy to ride today, and it’s great that it’s quiet with fewer people.” It was a chilly, overcast morning with high clouds lingering in the sky.

The dry snow that fell two nights ago, combined with the colder temperatures yesterday and today, has enhanced the powder-like feel on the groomed wet snow of the Han-no-ki Slope. My edges gripped well, and my skis glided smoothly, creating excellent conditions for an enjoyable ride! A snowboarder I spoke with (pictured) shared, “I always read your reports, and find them very helpful,” before carving down the slope with beautiful turns.

The expansive slope pictured here, which could almost be mistaken for the Kane-no-naru-oka Slope, is actually the lower section of the Maruyama Slope. Despite its lower elevation compared to Han-no-ki, the groomed Maruyama Slope (pictured) featured moderately packed powder snow, likely due to differences in sunlight or gradient. Meanwhile, the Shirakaba Slope offered well-packed powder, providing fantastic conditions for skiing!

A mother from Tokyo (pictured, far left) commented, “We’ve been skiing since the day before yesterday. The slopes are so easy to ski on that the kids are improving quickly.” Her two children chimed in, joking, “Mom, you’re the only one who can’t strike a proper pose—how uncool!” The groomed powder snow on the Oya-no-hara Slope provided the perfect conditions for beginners and those honing their skills!
