Takamine REPORT

2025.01.26130 cm / Partly Cloudy

Today the well-groomed slopes of Takamine Mountain Park provided excellent conditions, with the Antelope Course (pictured) feeling like a private slope during the early morning. The course, with its firmly groomed, powdery wet snow, saw advanced skiers focusing intensely on their turns.

That’s because the Takamine Tech Selection KING OF SNOW event was set to be held that day. The competition featured five categories—FS Men, AP Men, General Participants, Women, Boys, and Girls—with three events: short turns, medium turns, and free run. The top six FS Men and the top three in the other categories were awarded prizes, with cash prizes given to FS Men and women in the general participant category.

All 60 competitors showcased their sharp, powerful turns on the Diving Course, which had a well-packed, powder-like groomed wet snow base. Scores mostly ranged from 84 to 89 points, but when a competitor broke 90, the crowd erupted in excitement. (Boy’s short turn competition pictured here.)

I was especially captivated by the FS Men’s fast turn speeds. Even the kids impressed the crowd with their skills, performing moves that could rival the adults. In the afternoon’s free run category, it wasn’t just about sharp turns—some competitors even incorporated tricks into their runs. (Boy’s medium turn competition pictured here.)
