This morning, the snow flurries falling at the base were coming down as light snow as I got off the gondola. The clouds above were moving quickly, alternating between brief periods of sunlight and overcast skies. On the southern route of Usagidaira (pictured), the well-packed groomed wet base was topped with about 2 cm of light new snow, making for an incredibly satisfying feeling as my skis glided smoothly through it.

Two visitors from Aichi Prefecture (pictured) shared with me, “We always follow your updates! We’re Happo season pass holders. Both of us love carving on groomed slopes, but we’re also looking forward to the powder starting tomorrow.” Along the Alpen Quad and Kurobishi 3 Pair lines, the firm medium to large-sized moguls were dusted with 2 to 3 cm of fresh snow, adding to the enjoyment.

Each element within HAPPO PARKS was impeccably maintained, though the area was shrouded in dense fog today. There was a thin covering of fresh snow on the firmly packed, groomed wet snow base that made for a smooth ride. By the way, HAPPO PARKS will be closed for maintenance from 2/5 (Wed.) to 2/7 (Fri.).

As I made my way down the mountain, I emerged below the clouds near the lower section of the Kitaone Traverse Cat Track. It seems the wind was strong during the early hours of the morning, as the well-packed groomed wet snow along the Kurobishi Quad (pictured) was dusted with light fresh snow in patches up to 2 cm. The Skyline Course, Kitaone Traverse Cat Track, Sakka Slope, and Sakka Wave all featured firm, groomed wet snow surfaces for consistent and enjoyable conditions.
