This is a bonus report from the Furusato Nozei Series published between August and October. Due to this area’s abundant snowfall, snow-grown cabbage and carrots, which become tastier and richer in nutrients like amino acids when maturing under the snow, have become essential local specialties in Hakuba Village. In fact, reservations are now being accepted for the Otani Noujou’s 2025 harvest of snow-grown cabbage, cultivated with reduced pesticide use. By the way, the alpenglow (pictured) during sunrise on 1/27 (Mon.) was the most beautiful of the season so far.

The sunglasses with ‘HAKUBA’ printed on the side seen here are made by SMITH, a brand known for its high-quality goggles. While they are a bit pricey, they are a highly exclusive and satisfying item. Of course, there are also more affordable original products available, such as towels, T-shirts, mugs, beanies, and caps.
