While there was no noticeable wind at the base, strong gusts blew across the Mountain Side, whipping up the dry snow that fell last night. A skier who had just come down the former Hilltop run (pictured) shared, “I always check your updates. The wind-packed snow was a bit heavy, but I still enjoyed the fresh snow!”

The groomed East Slope, South Slope, and Sawa Course all offered excellent, moderately packed powder conditions! I spoke with three skiers from Aichi Prefecture (one of whom is pictured), who shared, “We always read your reports. We’re from the Nagoya-based ski club ‘Snow Plow.’ The slopes are really easy to ski on today!”

VIEW C and VIEW D (pictured) were nearly windless thanks to the trees that surround them. On VIEW D, with its moderately packed groomed powder, a group of international visitors shouted “AMAZING!” as they skied down. The Sunny Valley Course also featured moderately packed groomed powder on the upper to middle sections, transitioning to firmer, machine-made snow towards the bottom.

The ski resort was bustling with a level of activity unusual for a weekday. As of 10 a.m., the central parking lot was nearly full, and a long line had formed at the base station of the new gondola, as shown. Meanwhile, the All Japan Masters Ski Technical Championships will be held on Kamoshika over three days from 1/31 (Fri.) to 2/2 (Sun.)!
