Wind patterns were clearly visible on the slope just above the Alps No. 3 Pair lift station (pictured), reflecting the strength of the winds blowing earlier this morning. Since the opening of the Alps No. 11 Pair lift, sightings of people heading out for backcountry tours from here have decreased. However, there is still a spot where you can enter the self-responsibility area on the southern side of the Highway Course after a short hike, which explains the numerous tracks left by those hiking along the ridge.

Upon entering the self-responsibility area on the southern side of the Highway Course (pictured), I found about 30 to 40 cm of fresh powder! Although it had been slightly packed by the wind, this actually helped prevent me from sinking too much. The unique terrain, with its ridges and valleys, provided a delightful floating sensation as I enjoyed the fresh powder. However, with cracks hidden beneath the fresh snow, it’s important to have proper gear and knowledge to safely navigate the area.

I spoke with a couple from Shizuoka Prefecture (pictured) who shared with me, “We’ve seen Snownavi befores. We chose Hakunori because we can ski with our dogs. They’re both itching to run around!” The groomed Hakunori Family Course (pictured), as well as the Highway Course, Kamoshika Course, Wakaguri Central Slope, and Wakaguri Forest Course, all had soft, powdery snow grooming that made for a pleasant and smooth skiing experience.

The northwest wind was a bit strong, and the sky alternated between sunshine and clouds, but around 11:30 a.m., the entire sky grew overcast, and snow began to fall in earnest. The Satomi Central Slope (pictured) had moderately packed powder grooming. Most skiers I observed were crossing from Hakunori to Cortina, so the flat, well-maintained conditions were retained, providing a smooth and enjoyable skiing experience.
