The strongest and longest winter weather system of the season is forecasted to hit Japan this afternoon. Ahead of its arrival, it was a calm morning in Hakuba with a sky laced with dark clouds. On the well-packed groomed powder snow of the Panorama Course (pictured), visibility was slightly limited, but turns could still be made smoothly and comfortably.

A thin layer of fog occasionally drifted over both the Usagidaira and Kurobishi Slopes. Along the groomed areas of the Kurobishi Quad (pictured) and the southern route of Usagidaira, the moderately firm powder snow surfaces provided excellent grip, allowing me to carve smoothly. In the ungroomed sections along the Kurobishi 3 Pair and Alpen Quad, the snow had settled into natural undulations and moguls of well-packed powder.

The groomed section of the Skyline Course (pictured) had the same well-packed powder conditions as along the Kurobishi Quad. On the steep slopes of Kitaone, there were medium to large-sized, firm moguls. In other news, HAPPO PARKS will be closed for maintenance from 2/5 (Wed.) to 2/7 (Fri.).

Additionally, a free “Yuki-ita Experience Event” will be held in front of Snow Plaza Sakka on 2/8 (Sat.) and 2/9 (Sun.). (*Free participation, reservation required on the first day). The Kitaone Traverse Cat Track had well-packed groomed powder, while the Sakka Slope (pictured), Sakka Wave, and Shirakaba Slope featured moderately packed, slightly moist snow with a powdery feel.
