On 2/1 (Sat.), Kurohime was bustling as the weekend coincided with the 18th Annual Corporate Sports Festival 2024 Ski & Snowboard Competition. Thanks to the cold temperatures and significant snowfall from 1/29 (Wed.) to 1/31 (Fri.), the slopes were in top-notch condition.

“This competition looked interesting, so we decided to enter for the first time,” said a group of three participants from Osaka after completing their registration. Meanwhile, a father from Gunma, participating with his family, shared, “We always use Snownavi. My child is in the first grade, and is the youngest competitor. We’re going to do our best to win a prize!” The atmosphere on the slope intensified as the 140 participants began their course inspection at 11 a.m. (pictured).

The racecourse, Blackbird (pictured), was groomed with a moderately firm powder base that offered an ideal surface for the competition. The key challenge was maintaining speed through the steep opening section and smoothly transitioning into the gentler slope in the latter half. Each competitor had two runs, with the combined time determining the rankings. The atmosphere at the finish line was lively, with plenty of cheers and support from spectators.

Rewinding back to 9 a.m., I hopped on the No. 2 Pair lift as it started running and headed to Mouse. Sitting at the highest point of Kurohime Kogen Snow Park, Mouse (pictured) offers spectacular views! The groomed powder snow felt firmer than Leo, allowing for smooth, high-speed turns that made full use of the slope’s gradient.
