Tsugaike REPORT

2025.02.06349 cm / Snowy

This season’s strongest and longest duration winter weather system has been no joke! Several cars that had likely been parked in the Champion parking lot for over a day were completely buried in fresh snow (pictured). By the way, during extreme snowfall, if you leave your wipers up for several days, the weight of the snow can bend the wiper arms. It’s best to clear the snow regularly to avoid damage!

The heavy snowfall and light northwesterly wind made visibility of the snow surface a bit challenging, but whether walking or skiing, I could feel the exceptional quality of the powder beneath my feet, lifting my spirits. Alongside the Han-no-ki High-Speed Pair, about 5 cm of fresh, light snow had settled on a well-packed, groomed powder base. The ungroomed area beneath the Han-no-ki No. 3 Quad (pictured) was fully reset, with around 60 cm of fluffy new snow!

I spoke with three local residents from Otari Village (pictured), who shared, “We always check Snownavi! The heavy snowfall means a lot of shoveling every day, but playing in the snow is even more fun. Today is amazing!” On the moderately soft, groomed powder surfaces of the mid to lower sections of Han-no-ki and the Maruyama Slope, I fully enjoyed the light, fresh snow ranging from 10 to 20 cm.

I also enjoyed the deep, fluffy 50 cm of fresh snow on the ungroomed area of the Champion Slope. “We always use Snownavi. There are no words to describe today—just amazing!” said two skiers from Nagano prefecture. Looking at the forecast, snow symbols continue to be shown all the way through Saturday.
