“I’m about to participate in the pre-run for today’s competition,” said mogul skier Haruka Ihara (pictured, right)! In addition, the high school student in the center of the photo shared, “I fell in yesterday’s competition and didn’t make it past the prelims, so today I’m determined to reach the finals.” The middle schooler on the left added, “My goal today is to make it to the finals.” This morning, dry snow was falling steadily, and there was little wind to speak of.

The Paradise Slope (pictured) had a moderately firm, groomed powder surface with about 15 cm of fresh snow on the skiers’ right side, and about 40 cm to skiers’ left. Both the Paradise Downhill and Carving Slopes, which had similar, moderately firm groomed powder snow, had light fresh snow accumulation of around 15 to 20 cm.

I spoke with two visitors from Shiojiri (pictured), who told me, “We always check Snownavi! We were planning to go to Goryu47, but the roads were covered in snow, so we decided to stop at Sanosaka instead, haha. It’s our first time here in 3 to 4 years, and getting to ride untouched powder is amazing!” The Lake View Slope (pictured), which had moderately soft, groomed powder was also covered with 15 to 40 cm of light fresh snow.

Preparations were underway along the 5th Pair Lift (pictured, background) for the 2025 HSC Freestyle Ski Championship Mogul Competition. The ungroomed New Paradise Slope, which had an almost flat underlying base, was covered with an unexpected 50 cm of fresh snow. The fluffy texture and floating sensation made for an incredible ride!
