Dry snow was coming down equally hard at both the summit area and the base of the resort this morning. A patrol staff member mentioned to me, “Lift operations will be delayed due to time-consuming snow removal work.” Despite the conditions, the gondola and 5sen South started operating on schedule, with most visitors opting to ride the gondola.

On the South Slope, the moderately soft groomed surface was topped with about 20 cm of light, fresh snow, creating an incredibly satisfying glide that with careful edge control, even offered a nice floating sensation. “We got a lot of snow! Our first run was on White Ribbon!” was the comment from a group of three who were the first on the slopes courtesy of HAKUBA S-CLASS. Seeing the untouched surface from the gondola, I also made my way to the White Ribbon Course (pictured).

On the White Ribbon Course (pictured), there was about 40 cm of fluffy fresh snow, creating an incredible floating sensation that made me instinctively exclaim, “This is amazing!” Meanwhile, the Sunny Valley Course was covered with 10 to 20 cm of fresh, fluffy snow across its entire surface. Even after numerous tracks had been laid down, the snow remained soft and easy to ride.

I ran into the owner of Trattoria Liberta (pictured), who shared, “Thank you for your support! Yesterday was great, but today is even better! By the way, we’ve started serving dinner on weekends—please come and try it!” Meanwhile, the 25/26 NEW MODEL Demo Event, which was previously held near the old gondola base station, will take place in front of the gondola summit station on 2/8 (Sat.) and 2/9 (Sun.).
