Goryu47 REPORT

2025.02.08490 cm / Snowy

Yesterday, as snowfall eased during the day, it seemed like the strongest and longest cold wave of the season was coming to an end. However, by evening, the snow picked up again, prompting a Heavy Snow Warning for Hakuba Village. Arriving at the Toomi Slope base at 6:30 a.m. today, I found myself stepping through about 30 cm of fluffy new snow. The sight of marshmallow-like snow piled up around Escal Plaza was a sight to see (pictured).

A big snow day is the perfect time for Sunrise Skiing! From the first ride on the Toomi Sky Four (880m) at 7 a.m., I caught a brief but beautiful glimpse of the morning sun for the first time in a while (pictured). The Toomi Slope, freshly groomed early this morning, offered an ideal soft power snow surface!

Later on, the snowfall intensified once again, and occasional gusts of wind created brief whiteout conditions. A group of five visitors from Tokyo who arrived via the Orion Tour (pictured) told me, “We often take the overnight bus since we don’t have to worry about driving on snowy roads. The snow is so soft today that even falling doesn’t hurt!”

I also met a snowboarder from Kanagawa this morning who commented, “Good morning! I always check your reports! I’m planning to meet a friend from Osaka, but their arrival has been delayed due to the heavy snow.” The Cosmo Four lift started running around 9:05 a.m., and the Goryu Telecabin began operating around 9:50 a.m. On the Powder Snow Course and Soft Cream Course (pictured), with a moderately soft, groomed powder bases, I enjoyed the fluffy feel of the 10 to 20 cm of fresh snow.
