The “Happy Valentine’s Day Event” is taking place over two days, today and tomorrow, with the first 400 visitors each day receiving a small gift chocolate at the ticket center, regardless of gender. Two women from Nagano City and Ueda City (pictured) said, “These chocolates are so cute! I feel like I’ve seen the Snownavi site before… Oh, that’s right—I bought a season pass through you! Today’s snow is the best of the season so far.”

Since Ninja is only open on weekends and holidays, the snow that falls during the week remains untouched until Saturday morning. The Shine Slope (pictured) was groomed with a soft powder base, and had 10 to 20 cm of light new snow on top. Around 8:30 a.m., the heavy snow that had been falling became lighter, and with improved visibility, I had a perfect first run.

My main target of the day, the non-groomed Alekoko (pictured) and Sasuke slopes, had 30 to 40 cm of light new snow, while Rewild, the steepest slope at Ninja, had 50 to 60 cm of soft, fluffy new snow! On every course, I was able to experience incredible floatation without hitting the base, and my excitement just kept building!

At 9:30 a.m., the opening ceremony for the Smile Snowboard School lesson event was held in the base area. The instructor (pictured, white helmet) shared, “Today, we will split up into two groups for carving and freeride lessons. Tomorrow, we plan to hold lessons using a special kicker for jumps and ground tricks.” Additionally, the school’s branch at Ninja offers regular basic lessons.
