2025.02.10390 cm / Snow Flurries

Due to the strongest and longest cold wave of the season, which began on 2/4 (Tue.), the official base depth has rapidly increased from 280 cm to 390 cm. Around the road sign on the Uenotaira area (pictured), the snow was deep enough to almost reach the sign. The man shown on the left of the photo mentioned, “I’m 183 cm tall, and my head reaches the bottom of the sign.”

At the resort base, blue sky could be seen to the west, but snow was coming down hard on the Yamabiko Slope. A man waiting in line at the base of the Nagasaka Gondola commented, “I heard there’s 50 cm of new snow, so the Yamabiko B Course must be fully reset.” Indeed, the Yamabiko B Course (pictured) had about 40 to 50 cm of soft new snow, and had a beautifully smooth surface!

The groomed courses on the Yamabiko Slope, including A, C, D, and E, were in excellent condition with soft groomed snow topped by a light layer of new snow, making for a very smooth and enjoyable ride. From the Special Self-Responsibility Area on the skier’s left side of the Yamabiko A course, the sound of many cheers could be heard as skiers and snowboarders dropped in.

Early this morning I met a group from the Gundam Performance Team, who were out on the Nagasaka Slope, doing their part to liven up the atmosphere. Amuro Ray (pictured, second from left) mentioned, “The snow is soft and really nice.” Meanwhile, Jim, a member of the Earth Federation (pictured, far left) shared, “I won tickets to Naeba through the Snownavi 25th-anniversary giveaway! Thank you so much!”
