The end of this season’s strongest and longest cold wave so far, which began on 2/4 (Tue.), is finally in sight, as only a few dry flurries were falling this morning. I spoke with a snowboarder from Gifu (pictured) who told me, “I always check your reports! I stayed overnight in my car, and when I woke up, there wasn’t as much fresh snow as I expected, so I headed here to the groomed Highway Course first.”

The Satomi Central Slope (pictured) was in great condition, with a moderately soft groomed powder base topped with 1 to 2 cm of fresh, light snow. On the ungroomed central section, over 30 cm of fluffy snow had accumulated, including what had fallen up until yesterday. However, the boundary between the groomed and ungroomed areas was hard to distinguish, and some beginners found themselves stuck after unintentionally venturing into the deeper snow.

With the suspension of the 9th Pair Lift now confirmed to last the remainder of the season, a six-person snow buggy has been operating as a shuttle between the 9th Pair lift station and Wakaguri Central Slope since yesterday (pictured, free of charge). I had a conversation with a group of five from Toyama, who shared, “It’s been a while since we last visited Hakunori. We’re not sure where we’ll head first, but we’ve been wanting to ride the buggy since yesterday, so we’re excited!”

The Wakaguri Central Slope (pictured), Highway Course, and Rabbit Course all had smooth and enjoyable conditions with somewhat soft groomed powder bases topped with 1 to 3 cm of light new snow. Meanwhile, in front of Snowdrop, a special seafood event will be held tomorrow, 2/11 (Tue., holiday), starting at 11 a.m. The event will feature free servings of arajiru (fish soup), grilled seafood, and a live demonstration of anglerfish cleaning—offering a true Sea of Japan experience!
