This morning, the world appeared to be wrapped entirely in a blanket of pure white. The strongest and longest cold wave of the season, which began on 2/4 (Tue.), seemed to have finally eased during the day yesterday, but heavy snowfall resumed last night and was still coming down as of 8:00 a.m. this morning. While riding the 6th Pair lift, I was surprised to see that the distance from the bottom of the lift chairs to the top of the snow surface was noticeably less than in average years!

The groomed Carving Slope (pictured), Paradise, and Paradise Downhill had soft, highly skiable packed powder bases, topped with 5 to 10 cm of fresh, light snow. My edges dug in deeply, yet my skis glided smoothly, allowing for precise, effortless turns.

The Go! Go! Rabbits Cup ski, snowboard, and snowscoot cross competition is taking place over two days on the Lake Down Course. SnowM representative Moriyama-san (pictured), who was involved in setting up the course, shared, “With so much fresh snow, we debated canceling the event, but we’ve decided to go ahead with it!”

The course inspection began at 9:45 a.m. after a delay in preparation. “We’re aiming for the win!” said four kids from Osaka and Aichi Prefectures who were participating (pictured). With the long weekend drawing a lot of visitors, both the No. 1 and No. 2 parking lots were full by 10:00 a.m.
