The All Japan Junior Ski Championships Tsugaike Tournament Snowboard Slopestyle & Big Air is being held at TG PARKS this weekend, from 2/15 (Sat.) to 2/16 (Sun.). After the public practice session, one of the athletes from Ibaraki Prefecture, Bib No. 50 (pictured), mentioned, “During practice, I didn’t have enough speed on the second kicker, but I hope to get a proper jump in the competition.”

A total of 664 participants are entered in the event. The competition is taking place on the One Course (pictured), which has advanced-level lanes, while the Sawa Course remains open to the general public. The best-run format is being used, where athletes perform two runs in the following sequence: Down Rail → Cannon Rail → 12m kicker × 2 → Hip. Only the higher of the two scores will count.

Today, skies were clear and calm, and all the elements in the park were well-maintained. During the public practice session, athletes were carefully checking the snow conditions and the features. Even during practice, impressive high jumps and precise tricks were on display at the 12m kickers (pictured).

The Han-no-ki and Maruyama Slopes (pictured) featured well-packed, slightly damp groomed snow with a powdery feel. On the steep section of Han-no-ki midway through, small snowballs started to form around the tracks of skiers and snowboarders. By the way, tomorrow, 2/16 (Sun.), is a Kids’ Ski Day, where elementary school students can enjoy a free all-day lift ticket!
