A special Kids’ Event was held today, 2/16 (Sun.), to coincide with Kids’ Ski Day, where 1-day lift tickets for elementary school students are half price. However, just to be clear, the complimentary handouts of pork miso soup were available for adults as well. I spoke with members of the Shinshu University Demo Ski Team (pictured), who said, “We always check out your reports! After seeing the recent Hakuba Sanosaka slope report, we were envious that another club was featured, so we’re happy to have a turn today. The pork miso soup is delicious—we’re going back for seconds!”

The snowmobile experience, starting at 10 a.m. (free for elementary school children and younger), was extremely popular, with kids lining up to take their turn. Around the start of business at 8:30 a.m., the sky was overcast, but within an hour, blue skies began to appear, and eventually, the sun came out, bringing warm and pleasant weather.

I ran into a father from Kyoto (pictured), who commented, “Oh, Snownavi! I always check your site. My 3-year-old daughter can now ski on her own.” The Wakaguri Central Slope and Wakaguri Forest Course had a light layer of fresh snow on top of moderately firm, groomed wet snow. Meanwhile, the 11th Pair resumed operations yesterday, 2/15 (Sat.).

A group of high school students competing in the Hakuba Norikura Saitama Prefecture Mogul Championship on the Rabbit Course (pictured) commented, “We’re from different places but became friends through various competitions. Our goal is to make it into the top rankings!” The Rabbit Course and Highway Course were covered with 2 to 3 cm of fresh snow on top of firm wet snow, providing excellent groomed conditions.
