Tsugaike REPORT

2025.02.18393 cm / Snowy

After the heavy snowfall that began yesterday finally started to ease, light, dry flurries were falling as the gondola started running on schedule at 8 a.m. The forest road at the top of the Uma-no-se Course had a moderately soft, groomed powder base, and as I entered the final section of the Uma-no-se Course (pictured), I found around 40 cm of light, fresh snow! I was able to fully enjoy the floating sensation and fluffy texture without bottoming out on the underlying base.

Around 40 cm of fluffy fresh snow had also accumulated in the ungroomed area along the Champion Quad. Meanwhile, the groomed section of the Champion Slope featured moderately packed groomed powder with a light 7 to 8 cm layer of fresh snow on top! The Han-no-ki Slope, also had a moderately firm groomed powder surface that offered smooth and enjoyable turns from top to bottom.

Around 9 a.m., snow started to fall again. The groomed Oya-no-hara and Karamatsu slopes, both with moderately packed powder bases and 6 to 7 cm of fresh snow on top, were busy with beginners and intermediate skiers. The soft snow provided a great environment for practicing since it didn’t hurt to fall.

By the way, from 2/15 (Sat.) to 3/14 (Fri.), the “Tsugaike Recommended Restaurant Contest” is being held at Tsugaike. At the newly opened Pho Thin Tokyo Tsugaike, located in the Yuki-no-hiroba, you can enjoy authentic Vietnamese pho. The “Beef Pho” (pictured, ¥1,400) features a light beef bone broth that pairs perfectly with the smooth rice flour noodles. You can choose to add or omit cilantro, and there are also options to adjust the flavor to your liking with chili sauce, lime, garlic vinegar, fish sauce, and pepper.
