The IWATAKE SNOW PARK will host the IWATAKE STYLE 2025 jam session later today, 2/17 (Mon.), starting at 10:00 a.m., and the event is open to anyone on snowboards, skis, or snow skates! The “Hip Bank End Wall” (pictured, background) at the bottom of the snow park was massive and quite impressive.

Skies were overcast, and dry snow began falling around 8:30 a.m. The South Slope and Sawa Course (pictured) featured firmly packed groomed wet snow with small snowballs scattered across the surface in some areas. While many skiers and riders were on the South Slope and Sunny Valley Course in the morning, the Sawa Course was delightfully empty.

VIEW D had firm, groomed wet snow with about 1 cm of fresh snow accumulated on top. I spoke with a group of six (pictured), who told me, “We always check your reports! She (front row, center) came from California and has been touring ski resorts in Japan. So far, she’s been to Hakkoda, Mt. Iwaki, and Nozawa Onsen.” She also shared her thoughts, saying, “The snow in Japan is amazing!”

I also had a conversation with a group of three people from Nagano City and Hakuba Village (pictured), who said, “We love your site! He (center) usually snowboards, but today he’s trying skiing. He actually placed second in the Men’s Masters category at yesterday’s Hakuba Goryu Banked Slalom competition.” He added, “Skiing is tough!” The East Slope had a well-packed, groomed wet snow surface.
